Your editorial cartoon showing the battle flag being consigned to a garbage can was despicable. Many Southerners like me had ancestors who did not own slaves and who answered the call when their home state was invaded by Union forces.

Perhaps you should familiarize your readers with Sherman’s March or “Reconstruction” under Silverspoon Butler. Then judge those Confederate soldiers who fought to keep their farms from being burned, their womenfolk from being raped, their possessions from being looted and their children from starving.
