Concerning the proposed amendment to the smoking ban in New Orleans to allow an individual to light up in a bar without any penalty is absurd. Everyone who enters a bar or other establishment that has a no smoking policy knows it is against the law to smoke there and should abide by the law, and there should be no exceptions. The ordinance has been passed and signed by the mayor and should stand as it was passed without further changes. Furthermore, it would create more of a problem for employees to enforce the law if there is no penalty to the individual.
