Thank you to the students of Redemptorist High for crafting, and to The Advocate for printing, the stellar essay on the school’s closing (May 8). In this techno-driven age, the well-written word is, at best, a threatened art.

I have lived in Baton Rouge for 10 years and did not witness Redemptorist as the prevalent educational entity it once was in the community. The essay is a tribute to both teachers and students of the school and the skills they have cultivated. I was also very moved by the pride and sense of history and tradition that resonated from the piece.

Good luck to the students, faculty and staff of Redemptorist as you begin a new chapter in your life. Many thanks to all for your commitment to educating our next generation.
