Sadly, the Republican presidential candidates’ reactions to the downgrading of the USA’s credit rating is nothing more than a partisan knee-jerk reaction.

Why would they not listen to the rating agencies, i.e. Standard & Poor’s, instead of the extremists, before taking an immovable position?

There is plenty of blame to go around; however, the tax cuts of the past decade need to lapse, the discussion of which the Republican extremist minority has vigorously fought.

This is not a failure of President Barack Obama, who asked for a balanced approach of cuts to the budget and the elimination of tax loopholes to raise revenue to address the debt-ceiling dilemma.

Wake up, folks! America has been put at risk by the extremist minorities in the Republican Party and the tea party movement, or is that redundant?
