I was recently in the Zachary area visiting my in-laws over the Thanksgiving holiday.

I had occasion to purchase a copy of your fine newspaper and perused it almost cover to cover, between heaping mouthfuls of turkey, dressing, ham, cranberry sauce and sweet potato pie. I paid special attention to your coverage of national and local news, sports and opinion sections. The latest on the trials and tribulations of Les Miles was of special interest.

I was impressed with the breadth and depth of your offerings. In this day and age, many newspapers seem to be all about the advertisements. You had your fair share of those, too, but it was balanced well with substance.

On your commentary page, I was pleasantly surprised to find a Bible verse accompanied by a thought from Pastor G.E. “Skip” Dean, of the Highland Baptist Church in West Monroe, in your “Today’s thought” section. This gives new meaning to “PC,” out with “politically correct” and in with “primarily Christian.” Very spiritually refreshing!

Keep up the good work! God willing, I look forward to visiting again next year.
