The state should lift the ban on same-sex marriage. There is nothing wrong with gay people, and this is just a social stigma due to Louisiana’s predominantly religious background. America is a free country with the right to freedom of religion, so everybody should have the right to legally marry whomever they choose.

This ban may have been implemented through a majority vote, but it removes a basic right from the minority of gays who live in the state. We live in the 21st century, so people should be past making decisions mostly through intolerance or religious belief. We live in a democracy, not a theocracy.
