As someone who has held conservative viewpoints for a long time, I was very skeptical about the Occupy movement since it started on Sept. 17 in New York City.
I heard all the media bias and spin. However, as the movement grew, I had to find out for myself what the truth was about the movement.
On Oct. 22, I went down to the first General Assembly downtown. I found out that what the media said regarding the movement, in fact, was not true, and that this movement was something that I want to be a part of, as I realized how much I had in common with everyone and the movement.
I say all of this so people in Baton Rouge who are skeptical of the movement, come to our General Assembly; we are not what so much of the media portrays us as. We are the 99 percent.
My name is Japheth Dupuis, and this is not a letter sponsored by Occupy Baton Rouge as it has not been approved by our General Assembly.
