The new trade the New Orleans Pelicans made before the deadline has proven dividends for the Pelicans.

The Pelicans traded John Salmons, who had not played in meaningful minutes for the Pelicans this entire season, for Norris Cole. Norris Cole has had 12, 15 and 11 points in each of his first three games. He is an excellent on-ball defender, and he is quick and athletic.

The Pelicans have won their last three games with Cole. The Pelicans have beaten the Heat, Raptors and Nets without Anthony Davis, Ryan Anderson and Jrue Holiday. Cole has been an excellent contributor for the Pelicans off the bench in his first few games.

Hopefully, he will continue to contribute to the Pelicans.

The Pelicans need to keep winning if they want to stay in the hunt for the eight seed in the playoffs.
