Recently, The Advocate has printed a number of letters identifying fallacies and falsehoods in columns written by Jeff Shadow, a professor and Advocate columnist.
As a retired professor myself, who also provided local media with commentary (in Indiana), I am critical of both The Advocate and Professor Sadow. While he certainly has the right to have The Advocate publish his opinions, I object to the use of his professorship to hide his actual agenda.
Much of what he writes for The Advocate is not acceptable scholarship but rather boilerplate, far-right talking points.
Therefore, I suggest The Advocate in the future identify Sadow foremost as a political advocate who happens to be a professor because his columns are based on his political opinions and not on his scholarship.
