It was heartening, in a land where sports reign, to read that Madeline Lecesne, of Lusher High School, has chosen a literary high road as her means of expression.

Congratulations to her devotion to poetry and for her national accolades. Alas, my disappointment lay in The Advocate’s failure to include a sample of her work.

I’m sure she would have enjoyed sharing her work with us. Perhaps the editorial staff do not see their readership as poetry literate. Perhaps they deem poems as too highbrow for the proletariat, or perhaps your typesetter/printer is not up to a challenge beyond the columnar format. In any case, you missed an opportunity to share a creative voice with us all.
