Because of the following reasons, I am urging all to vote “no” on Amendment No. 1. This is one of 14 constitutional amendments proposed that will be on November’s ballot.

1. This amendment will seek to preferentially protect budgets of nursing home businesses at the expense of community programs.

2. It will diminish the possibility and opportunity our elderly and disabled will have to remain at home as long as possible.

Perhaps because my 92-year-old dad died in my arms in July, perhaps because I have disabilities and parent children with disabilities, perhaps because I am just a dyed-in-the-wool Democrat who firmly supports those among us most vulnerable and most in need whatever the reason — I emphatically implore you to spread the news that No. 1 is bad for our community programs and the deserving folks they serve. Don’t let the misleading language fool you.

Vote “no” on No. 1.
