I read in The Advocate that the weekly jobless claims increased in Louisiana. I think our state’s elected officials should take some business courses.

Raising the sales tax discourages people from spending money. We need to get people to spend more money to help increase employment. Workers are not going to leave the state because of higher income tax, but they will shop in another state to save on sales tax, which hurts Louisiana businesses. I would like to buy a new car because my car is 10 years old, but I am not going to pay a penalty to spend my money.
