It's nice to see economic development in West Baton Rouge (400 new single-family homes) and the proposed Lakes at Jones Creek (425 new homes) in East Baton Rouge. When these new areas are developed, it seems like all the engineers always agree that drainage of heavy rains and possible flooding will not occur.

It is time now for every new development to have their own drainage pumping station so that water can be removed fast and efficiently. Add the cost of the pumping station to the price of each lot. Each home needs to be elevated at least with four feet of sand to support the slab. This is the only way homes will not be flooded with a heavy rain.
