An article in The Advocate on May 26 notes that the Metro Council approved by an 8-1 vote allowing changes in speed limits if 65 percent of the residents of the neighborhood living on the street approve.

Not so fast! This only applies if the Department of Public Works, after study, agrees to the change.

Who is in charge of running this parish, the Metro Council or DPW?

If residents want the speed limit reduced, it should be done as approved by the council. It should not require the bureaucrats to conduct another study for their approval.

My subdivision has fought this battle for years. It is time to get off the dime and make the changes the people want.
