To partially quote Hayne Rainey, spokesman for Mayor Mitch Landrieu, “The people of New Orleans should have an opportunity to create new symbols … that reflect the values of who we are today.”

Thirty thousand people want our monuments to remain, but then, the people don’t count. My suggestion for the creation of new “symbols” would be huge sculptures of firearms to replace the historical monuments. That is who we are today.
