Colin Kaepernick was the first to kneel during the country’s national anthem in support of the Black Lives Matter movement in 2016. However, the point he wished to get across was overshadowed by the uproar of whether his actions were disrespectful to the country or not. Now, with hundreds of players kneeling and sitting during a time when we should be united, fans are reminded of the issues this country has, although these problems are not clearly stated by the players who are protesting. If NFL players truly wish to make a difference, they should use their voices in addition to their actions to protest during a different time that would not create new problems to deal with.
