I flew from Birmingham to Baton Rouge to take my 78-year-old mother to the LSU-Auburn game. She is an avid fan and generally in good health. We previously had gone to the Kentucky game without incident.
Prior to the game she was dizzy. Holding out as long as she could, she cratered about 10 minutes before kickoff. I cannot tell you how wonderful the people at the Gate 5 trauma center were. I had no idea there was a game behind the game going on. I was amazed at the number of people who were being sent to this center. I’m sure there are many others doing the same good work. Her blood pressure was high; a cardiologist came in and looked at her heart.
Ultimately, she was transported to a local hospital and treated. Luckily, it turned out to be vertigo. I think the amazing first responders need a round of recognition. Thanks for allowing me to send this.
