Calling the monuments of the city of New Orleans nuisances is a way of dehumanizing them and making them easier for removal.

A greater good would be done for the city if a panel were to study how to improve the plight of the homeless living here. Maybe the “nuisance” of the homeless needs to resolved more than the semantics of monuments.

The tragedy of homelessness is truly monumental and affects all races and genders. Our racial healing should start here.
