It’s that time of year again when the mowers and blowers are out. I often wonder, why do the lawn services think it’s OK to blow all the trimmings from the private lawns and commercial landscaping into our streets?

This also includes all the litter and debris that gathers against the street curbs. I’ve passed down streets, and they will be blowing all the grass clippings and litter right into the middle of the street.

Does this not constitute “littering,” which is punishable by fines in our city ? Also, could all this debris add to our drainage problems by being washed into the curb drainage?

This may not be a big deal to some, but if the blowers could vacuum the debris into bags and place them for pickup, we just might have a little less litter in our great city.
