The Confederate States of America committed treason when it illegitimately and illegally acted to separate itself from the United States.

If one bothers to read its spurious constitution, support for the heinous institution of slavery bleeds through every page. The equivalent of flying the Confederate battle flag on public property would be to have City Hall or the state capital hoist the Nazi swastika or the emperor’s Rising Sun from World War II in respect for the bravery of their soldiers.

Every remnant of the murderous and treasonous Southern alliance should be torn down and replaced by any of the multitude of truly heroic individuals that have graced our nation since its founding.

For a start, we only need to look to the unsung heroes of the civil rights and women’s rights movements who survived the seemingly unending holocaust of the Confederacy and irrational, insane prejudice.
