Recently there has been a lot of talk about Social Security being a Ponzi scheme, especially from Republican Gov. Rick Perry of Texas.

Well, for starters the pot calls the kettle black, especially since it’s been revealed that Social Security was to be voluntary, but these days the average Joe has to pay into the system, so where’s the beef?

Frankly, I can think of things more meaningful than Social Security.

How about job security in light of the recession? How about marital security in light of the divorce rate? How about national security in light of terrorism?

And how about salvation security in light of those theologians and parishioners who think otherwise?

So that’s some food for thought there since these securities are not Ponzi schemes.
