I wanted to respond to your recent editorial concerning tax increases.

As you indicated, former Gov. Edwin Edwards did try to get people where it hurt in order to get his way on taxes. It seems after reading your list of new taxes in the April 1 paper, the new governor is doing the same!

Some of the notable ones are the sale of Bibles, Girl Scout cookies, educational supplies bought by teachers, glasses and wheelchairs, material for kidney dialysis and to top it off — breast-feeding items! Talk about hitting where it hurts — everyone but the politicians.
