When men come into my shop, they talk about the Southern Jaguars, the weather and their families. But they don’t like to talk about some things, such as cancer. So when some of my customers started getting prostate cancer, I stepped up.

Since 2007, I’ve worked with The Cancer Program of Our Lady of the Lake and Mary Bird Perkins for a free prostate screening in the parking lot across the street from my shop. The screening is Sept. 17 at Webb’s Barbershop, 414 Eddie Robinson Drive. The Cancer Program brings a mobile bus, and they treat everyone very well.

I tell the guys who come into my shop to man up and get tested because if prostate cancer is caught early; they’ve got a good chance to survive. Please pass the word on about this screening because it could save a fella’s life.
