I cannot say thanks enough to the Baton Rouge Union of Police, Baton Rouge Police Department, Back The Blue of Baton Rouge and Roco Rescue for their wonderful gift to our amazing patients at Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital. The superheroes that rappeled from the roof were an inspiration!

Spider-Man (Roco Rescue's Wes Ware), Iron Man, Batman and Captain America, all Baton Rouge Police Dept. Special Response Team (SWAT) members who preferred to remain anonymous, high five patient Seth Martello, 13, of Denham Springs, during a 'Hanging With Heroes' visit by costumed superheroes to Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital, Friday, Oct. 27, 2017. The visit, facilitated by the Baton Rouge Union of Police and Back the Blue of Baton Rouge, included two rappells by each superhero down OLOL building exteriors, and visits with pediatric patients. The community outreach was a way to further interaction between youth and local police, and also served to bring a special Halloween treat to children who might not be able to go out trick-or-treating this year.

The men and women brought joy, smiles and cheer to both our pediatric patients as well as their families — kudos! It was so rewarding for us as caregivers to see the excitement on those precious faces, and it was because of your generosity. Please know that your actions have helped ease pain, anxiety and boredom for our kids. There is no greater gift that could be given.
