Cal Thomas, as usual, misses the whole point. Pope Francis’ encyclical is a bulletin to the faithful on a moral question. He is less concerned with the environment and the poor than he is about souls. And the souls he is concerned about here are ours, since, on the global scale of things, we here in America are richer than everybody else.

From my reading of the encyclical, he doesn’t want us to feel guilty, he wants us to do something.

If you cannot work with the poor directly, find an NGO or government agency that you can support. Recycle; put in a solar water heater; use LED light bulbs.

Do something right now.

Francis is watching, and I don’t think he’s interested in excuses.
