I took the challenge and tried to answer the three test questions on the front page of the March 16, 2015 Advocate. I made it through third- and fourth-grade OK, but apparently I would not pass seventh-grade by today’s standards.

I answered the seventh-grade question, “Place the three friends’ reading rates in order from greatest to least,” as 32, 25, and 18 pages per day. I was surprised when the answer on page 4 was shown as “Nancy, Barbara, Colleen.”

I have an opinion regarding what is wrong with education today, and it isn’t the kids or teachers.
