It’s another Election Day in Louisiana, mostly with tax renewals and with a few municipal elections thrown in on the ballot in a number of jurisdictions across the state.
There is an important slate of renewals of 10-year property taxes in Jefferson Parish for a variety of necessary public purposes, including streets and streetlights and other services. We endorse those propositions for voters in the parish.
One significant race is a runoff to elect a new coroner in St. Tammany Parish, replacing the disgraced former Coroner Peter Galvan.
If it is not a huge election, the decisions are important. Detailed voting information is available at the Louisiana secretary of state’s office. We urge voters to go to the polls and cast an informed ballot.
