Congratulations to Phyllis M. Taylor on the 30th anniversary of the Patrick F. Taylor Foundation, created by the philanthropist and her late husband as a charitable arm of Taylor Energy Co.

While the foundation is best known for support of the TOPS tuition vouchers for college students — a subject of controversy lately amid the state’s budget woes — a new website, www.pftaylorfoundation.org, demonstrates the breadth of the Taylors’ philanthropy. It includes not only education, including major gifts to LSU over many years, but also support to law enforcement officers and members of the armed services.

The foundation’s gifts and pledges for men and women in uniform total more than $53 million to more than 475 organizations in Louisiana and across the United States.

This is a tremendous asset for the greater New Orleans region and the state of Louisiana. May the foundation continue to give for years to come.
