It’s Navy Week in New Orleans, one of the port city’s opportunities not only to see our ships and service members in action but also to welcome our nation’s friends from Canada and the United Kingdom.

In addition to the more than a thousand sailors and other services’ members in the city from U.S. warships, HMS Lancaster and HMCS Athabaskan also will be part of the activities. They deserve a special welcome, as our allies in tough times as well as bad.

A full complement of concerts, a fireworks show on Monday and tours of six warships will be part of the festivities.

God bless the United States Navy and our friends from abroad.
