LAMAR JACKSON

Louisville junior QB

HIS CASE: The 2016 Heisman winner found his way back into the end zone twice against Purdue after being held out of it by LSU in the Citrus Bowl. Jackson established his early 2017 credentials by piling up 485 yards (378 passing, 107 rushing).

SAM DARNOLD

USC sophomore QB

HIS CASE: How hard it is to start the season as the Heisman favorite. Darnold’s Trojans beat Western Michigan 49-31, but he was a pedestrian 23 of 33 for 289 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions. A strong effort against Stanford, though, and all’s well.

JOSH ROSEN

UCLA junior QB

HIS CASE: Move over, Sam; there’s a new Heisman star in Hollywood. The Bruins’ Rosen-led 45-44 comeback Sunday against Texas A&M was the talk of Week 1. Rosen threw for 491 yards and four TDs. That last TD pass off the fake spike was Oscar-worthy.
