The shoe is on the other foot, and the Tigers haven't forgotten the sound bite.
After Florida went to Baton Rouge and beat LSU in 2016, Gators coach Jim McElwain told reporters "they got what they deserved," referring in part to the chain of events that brought the game to Louisiana.
After the Tigers held on for a tight win in Gainesville a year later, LSU punter Zach Von Rosenberg offered the same message. Can't see the video? Click here.
He was joined by long snapper Jake Ferguson, who shouts: "And it should've been worse," completing the words said by McElwain.
The testy exchanges date back to Florida's decision to cancel the SEC game from last year due to concerns over Hurricane Matthew. LSU initially proposed the game should be played in Baton Rouge, but Florida declined.
The pair eventually agreed to play later that year in Baton Rouge, buying out their nonconference opponents to do so. Part of the agreement involved LSU playing this year's game in Gainesville.
Freshman LSU tight end Jamal Pettigrew and junior Derrius Guice also joined in on the twitter action.
"The way I look at it they got what they deserved and it should have been worse" that's what they coach said last year, tables turned! 🤷🏾♂️— 80 (@_jamal80) October 7, 2017
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — All of those meetings last week did get LSU on the same page after all.
It was called “Pylon Left” for a reason.
