Three observations from Sunday’s practice session:

1 -- The quarterback group featured a familiar face. Dray Joseph, the Jaguars’ career leader in touchdown passes and a co-Southwestern Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year last year, attended practice and kept a watchful eye on the players competing to be his successor.

2 -- Freshman running back Dakota Starks suffered a blow to the head and sat out the rest of practice. He was scheduled to be evaluated by doctors.

3 -- Guard Zach Brown is being held out of contact drills because of off-season shoulder surgery, but he’s not wasting time. While his teammates practiced without him, Brown spent the time working alone on his blocking technique.
