Walker football coach Brandon Lawley resigned Thursday, just two months removed from leading the Class 5A Wildcats to their first playoff berth in 15 years.

"Simply put, it's time for me to move on," Lawley said. "I'm happy with the progress we made at Walker in the last two years. I think we've gone a long way toward putting Walker on the map. I believe the program is in a better place."

The Wildcats garnered a No. 15 seed while making the Class 5A playoffs for the first time in school history. WHS lost 67-37 to Ouachita in the first round of the playoffs.

Athletic Director Korey Arnold said Walker High will accept applications for a head football coach until Jan. 23. Interested applicants should send rèsumès to Arnold at Korey.Arnold@lpsb.org.
