Former Catholic High standout Colin Bone finished 31st in the 200-meter freestyle Monday in his debut at the U.S. Olympic swimming trials in Omaha, Nebraska.

Bone, an Auburn signee, won the first preliminary heat in a time of 1 minute, 49.74 seconds. The time was more than 2 seconds faster than the qualifying time he posted last summer.

A total of 75 swimmers competed in the 200 freestyle prelims at the CenturyLink Center. LSU’s Jake Markham was 35th in 1:50.15.

Bone is the only high school-aged competitor from Louisiana to qualify for the swimming trials. He will compete again Wednesday morning in the 100-meter freestyle preliminary heats.
