All-American cornerback is becoming a spot reserved for LSU Tigers.

Morris Claiborne became the second straight LSU cornerback to earn all-American honors when the American Football Coaches Association named him to the organization's Football Bowl Subdivision all-American team Monday morning.

Claiborne follows Patrick Peterson, who was an AFCA all-American last season. Claiborne is also a finalist for the Thorpe Award, given to the nation's top defensive back, and the Nagurski Award, which goes to the best defensive player

The Shreveport native has 46 tackles, 28 solo, and is ninth in the nation with six interceptions. He has 12 passes defended and six broken up. He has scored two touchdowns, one on a 99-yard kickoff return against West Virginia and another on a 45-yard interception return for a touchdown in the SEC championship game against Georgia.

Claiborne is the 11th first-team all-American under coach Les Miles. The AFCA is selected by the FCS' head coaches.
