Bolstered by a top-10 recruiting class and the return of forward Johnny O’Bryant III, LSU was tabbed to finish fourth in the SEC this season, according to the results of a media poll released Wednesday morning ahead of the conference’s media days.
The Tigers, who are coming a 19-12 mark and .500 finish in the SEC last season, were slotted behind preseason favorite Kentucky along with Florida and Tennessee.
The Wildcats picked up 21 first-place votes, while the Gators nabbed five and a lone vote went to Tennessee.
Additionally, O’Bryant, a junior, was selected as a member of the preseason All-SEC team along Alabama senior guard Trevor Releford, Kentucky freshman forward Julius Randle, Ole Miss senior guard Marshall Henderson and Tennessee senior guard Jordan McCrae.
Randle was also projected as the preseason Player of the Year with 11 votes, while O’Bryant (three votes) came in third.
