Shareef O'Neal, the son of former LSU and NBA star Shaquille O'Neal and one of the nation's top basketball recruits for the Class of 2018, has committed to the University of Arizona.

California Supreme, the younger O'Neal's AAU team, congratulated Shareef O'Neal via Twitter late Tuesday night on his commitment to Arizona.

O'Neal, a five-star prospect and a senior-to-be at a Los Angeles-area high school, is ranked 19th on the ESPN 60 list for 2018 and the 31st prospect in the country by 247 Sports.

Shareef O'Neal is a 6-foot-9 power forward who received an offer from former LSU coach Johnny Jones and his staff before they were fired in March.

In addition to LSU and Arizona, O'Neal had offers from UCLA, Southern California and Cal among many others — including Kentucky.

The commitment is nonbinding until the early one-week signing period begins in November.
