SEC coaches peg LSU baseball second in the West; Alex Lange, Jake Fraley, Jared Poche honored _lowres

On the day before it opens a 2016 season replacing eight of nine starters, LSU was picked second in the SEC West by league coaches, trailing Texas A&M.

The Aggies got eight first place votes, LSU received five and Mississippi State got one. Florida, a consensus No. 1 in preseason polls, was tabbed to win the East and the entire conference, garnering 13 of the 14 first-place votes for each title.

Tiger pitcher Alex Lange, the reigning National Freshman of the Year who has yet to lose a collegiate start, was named a preseason First Team All-SEC selection by the coaches.

Outfielder Jake Fraley — LSU’s only returning position player — and pitcher Jared Poche’ were both named to the Second Team.
