LSU lost a baseball signee Thursday when Irving (Texas) High School shortstop Trevor Story agreed to terms with the Colorado Rockies, according to Baseball America’s draft blog.

Story, a supplemental first-round pick and the 45th selection overall, was considered one of the best all-around shortstops in the draft, according to the blog. He was described as having above-average speed, range and arm strength, as well as better bat speed and power than most middle infielders.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, though the report said the commissioner’s office’s recommendation for a player in the 45th slot is $764,100. The report said the deal is expected to be finalized Tuesday.

Story was selected first among the seven Tigers signees that were taken in last month’s draft.
