LSU’s nation-high 20 commitments in its 2018 recruiting class is steadily shrinking.

Adam Anderson, once one of the highest rated pledges in the Tigers’ class, pulled his commitment on Thursday night, becoming the third prospect to do so in less than three weeks.

Anderson, 247Sports’ top-ranked outside linebacker in 2018, announced his decision with a post on Twitter.

“After many hours, days and long talks with the family, I have decided to decommit from Louisiana State University and reopen my recruiting,” he wrote. “I believe this is the best time to do this.”

Anderson was one of three prospects from Rome High in Rome, Georgia, to commit to the Tigers on April 22, the day of LSU’s spring game. Only one of the trio remains pledged to the class: defensive tackle J’aQuon Griffin, the lowest ranked of the three.

The other, defensive end JaMarcus Chatman, pulled his pledge on June 18 — the first of three de-commitments in the span of 19 days. Many running back AJ Carter de-committed from LSU on Wednesday and then re-committed to UCLA.

Anderson’s departure leaves a class once at 22 commitments at 20, still a nation-high for major college programs. The Tigers’ group of pledges remains No. 3 in the nation in 247Sports’ team rankings, five months ahead of the new early signing period in mid-December.
