BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Seven LSU women’s basketball conference games during the 2011-12 season will be televised as part of the Southeastern Conference’s television package, the league office announced Thursday.

LSU will make three appearances on Comcast Sports Southeast (CSS), one on the SEC Network, two on FSHOU and one on ESPN2.

The Lady Tigers’ SEC home opener against Alabama will be aired on SEC Network and tip off at 1 p.m. Jan. 8. Games at Florida on Jan. 15 and at Tennessee on Jan. 19 are slated for CSS. Those games will also likely be carried on ESPN3.com.

After a two-game road trip, LSU returns home Jan. 22 to host Arkansas at 2 p.m. on FSHOU. LSU’s other appearance on FSHOU is the home finale against Vanderbilt at 8 p.m. Feb. 23.

LSU travels to face Georgia in the final game of the regular season at 4 p.m. Feb. 26. ESPN2 will televise the game.

The SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament will again be televised by FSHOU. The semifinals will be aired on ESPNU, while the championship game will be televised on ESPN2.

Cox Sports Television (CST) will announce its television schedule at a later date.

Swimming and diving

TIGERS TO HOLD ANNUAL INTRASQUAD MEET: The men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams square off in the Purple and Gold Intrasquad meet at 3 p.m. Friday in the LSU Natatorium.

The LSU Natatorium is located at the corner of Nicholson Drive and West Chimes Street adjacent to the W.T. Dub Robinson Tennis Stadium and near the Carl Maddox Field House.

Admission is free.

Women’s golf

LADY TIGERS BEGIN PLAY IN MASON RUDOLPH FALL PREVIEW: In Franklin, Tenn., the LSU golf team will be in familiar territory when it takes part in the Mason Rudolph Championships and the NCAA Fall Preview that is now the Mason Rudolph Fall Preview over the Vanderbilt Legends Club North Course.

It’s a place the nationally ranked Lady Tigers want to be in May as the Vanderbilt Legends Club hosts the NCAA Division I Championships.

LSU is familiar with the course, having won the title last year over Purdue by two shots with a score of 21-under 843.

Men’s tennis

TIGERS TO PARTICIPATE IN SOUTHERN INTERCOLLEGIATE CHAMPIONSHIPS: In Athens, Ga., four LSU players will take the court in the 44th annual Southern Intercollegiate Championships Friday through Monday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

Juniors Olivier Borsos and Roger Anderson and sophomores James Turbervill and Matt Zachary will travel to Georgia to participate in what will be their first tournament of the fall season.

SKUPSKI, EATON ADVANCE: In Costa Mesa, Calif., LSU’s Neal Skupski and Englishman Chris Eaton came together to defeat Chris Kearney and Erik Elliott in the quarterfinals of the Costa Mesa Futures Event in California earlier today.

In the first set, Skupski and Eaton battled from a 3-2 deficit to win 6-4. After dropping the second set to Kearney and Elliott 7-6, Skupski and Eaton rallied back to take the final set and the match 6-4.

Skupski and Eaton will advance to the semifinals Friday where they will face No. 1 seed Bumpei Sato and Artem Sitak.
