LSU sophomore infielder Rankin Woley has been suspended for a violation of team rules, coach Paul Mainieri said Wednesday.

The suspension is indefinite and has been in place for a few weeks, Mainieri said. It was made noticeable when Woley was not listed on LSU’s roster for the purple and gold world series.

Woley appeared in 26 games as a freshman for LSU last season, starting in eight. He hit .267 in 45 at-bats with four doubles and five RBIs.

He entered the fall competing for playing time on the right side of the infield.
