  • Jared Foster: LSU’s starting second baseman made his return Thursday and started off great. He began 2 for 3 and made three defensive plays in the first three innings – 2 of the difficult kind. His return to the lineup made a difference – despite his groundout into a bases-loaded double play in the seventh.
  • Chris Chinea: This guy is red hot. He’s got a team-leading 14-game hit streak going, and he hit a 10th home run in 27 games Thursday. His average is skyrocketing and is now at .380 after going 4-for-5 in the series opening loss.
  • Jared Poché: The sophomore lefty fought through some struggles before limping out of the sixth inning. He allowed four hits in the frame, including a two-out, two-run, game-tying home run. He allowed six runs – tied for his career high and a season high.
  • Jake Godfrey: The freshman faced five batters and retired one. He walked two and allowed a leadoff single in the seventh. He threw 17 balls in his 23 pitches – four in an intentional walk.
  • Andrew Stevenson: Stevenson went 0-for-4 and committed what turned into a one-run error. He struck out twice and lined out in the third inning with a man at second base.
