LSU coach Ed Orgeron made it known with this 2018 recruiting class -- it needed to big.
"We had to start with the lines," Orgeron said late Wednesday morning on LSU's in-house signing day show. "It's a big man's game. Game is won up front. We wanted to get big. ... Wanted to go with size. We got it."
With players like 370-pound defensive tackle Dominic Livingston from Houston and junior college transfer/offensive tackle Badare Traore, LSU is certainly getting bigger. Those are two of the 18 players that the Tigers had signed as of 3 p.m. Wednesday in the inaugural early signing period.
Here are a few comments from Orgeron on some notable players in the class...
"We needed the best junior college offensive tackle in the country. We got'em." -- Orgeron on Traore
"We like Beast Mode ... he reminds us of Marshawn Lynch." -- Orgeron on Florida running back Chris Curry
"We got 'em, and we're glad to have him." -- Orgeron on California place kicker Cole Tracy
"We love him." -- Orgeron on Livingston
"He reminds us of D.J. Chark" -- Orgeron on Jena (La.) wide receiver Jaray Jenkins
"We're proud to have six players signed from north Louisiana. Something we had to overcome. We're proud." -- Orgeron on competitive recruiting in the northern part of the state
"We believe they're going to be great young men and great players. Some are going to develop into superstars. Not superstars yet." -- Orgeron on the class overall
