LSU soccer team
edges past BYU 4-3
PROVO, Utah — LSU’s soccer team started its four-game road swing with a 4-3 victory over BYU.
All-SEC standouts Summer Clarke and Megan Lee gave the Tigers (4-2-1) gave the Tigers a 2-1 lead at the break, while rookie striker Jorian Baucom and All-SEC midfielder Emma Fletcher found the back of the net in the second half to give LSU its first signature win of the 2014 season. The victory ran LSU’s record to 2-1-1 in four meetings all-time with the Cougars (1-3-2).
The Tigers are unbeaten in their past two matches after earning their first win in Provo.
LSU’s win marked the first time a BYU side has conceded three or more goals in a match in more than six years since Sept. 4, 2008, when the Cougars dropped a 4-1 decision at William & Mary.
LSU to compete
in Rice Invitational
The LSU’s men’s and women’s cross country teams will compete Friday in the 39th annual Rice Invitational Cross Country Meet at Rice Intramural Fields.
The meet will begin with the 12 women’s teams running the 4K course at 6:15 p.m. Eleven men’s teams will run the 6K course at 6:45 p.m.
The Tigers will compete against Lamar, McNeese State, Nicholls State, Northwestern State, Prairie View, Texas A&M International, Texas Southern, Texas State, Rice and UT-Brownsville. The Lady Tigers will be racing against Rice, Lamar, Stephen F. Austin, Houston Baptist, McNeese State, Nicholls, Northwestern State, Prairie View, Texas A&M International, Texas Southern and UT-Brownsville.
LSU volleyball team
at Florida State
After a week away from competition, the LSU volleyball team returns to action this weekend taking part in the Four Points by Sheraton Seminole Invitational hosted by Florida State University on Friday and Saturday in Tallahassee.
The Tigers open play Friday afternoon against Central Arkansas at 4 p.m. in Tully Gymnasium in the team’s only match of the day. On Saturday, LSU will take on Samford at noon, with the match being televised on CST with Lyn Rollins and Missy Whittemore. Later that night, the tournament ends with LSU taking on the Seminoles.
