Catholic High running back Derrius Guice dropped a bombshell through his Twitter account late Tuesday night, announcing that he has decommitted from LSU and is reopening his recruiting process. At about 9:40 p.m., Guice tweeted, “I’ve decided to reopen my recruitment again!! Now who shall get my five official visits.”

The 5-foot-11, 219-pound Guice later added, “Want to take things slow now and make sure that I know whatever decision I make is truly what I feel.”

David Folse of LSU ESPN and the bayoubengalinsider.com asked Guice if he was serious or joking and Guice replied “Nah I’m serious and that’s all I’m saying about that.”

Guice is considered to be Louisiana’s top senior running back by recruiting services and along with Warren Easton receiver Tyron Johnson is thought to be a top senior prospect overall.

Within minutes, Guice’s Twitter feed filled up with tweets encouraging him to take visits to other colleges, including Texas and Arkansas.

Through six games, Guice has rushed for 793 yards and 13 touchdowns.

for a Catholic team that is ranked fifth in Class 5A. He also 20 catches for 354 yards and six more TDs. To date, Guice has 1,233 all-purpose yards.

Catholic (5-1, 1-0) travels to Dutchtown (3-3, 1-0) for a District 4-5A game Friday night.
