Markaviest Bryant — a four-star defensive end from Cordele, Georgia and one of LSU's top targets — has signed with Auburn, he announced Wednesday morning at Crisp County High.
Bryant, nicknamed "Big Cat," chose Auburn over LSU and Georgia. The 6-foot-4, 226-pound prospect is the 14th-best weak-side defensive end and the No. 271 overall player in the 2017 recruiting class, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. He’s the No. 18 player from Georgia.
Bryant — who officially visited Baton Rouge on Jan. 20 — had a total of 27 offers, including 13 of the 14 Southeastern Conference schools. Alabama also pressed Bryant down the stretch, as Nick Saban paid him an in-home visit during the final week of the contact period last week.
As a senior, Bryant had 15.5 sacks and even caught a pass of 9 yards for a touchdown. For the season, he totaled 102 tackles with 36.5 for loss, six pass deflections, two fumble recoveries, two blocked kicks and an interception.
