The No. 13 Tigers survived a sluggish first half and cruised to a 48-16 victory in their homecoming game.

LSU running back Jeremy Hill rushed for 142 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries. Running back Terrence Magee rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns on seven carries.

LSU trailed 7-0 in the first quarter when Furman cornerback Reggie Thomas intercepted the second pass of the game by Tigers quarterback Zach Mettenberger and returned it 74 yards for a touchdown.

The Paladins led 10-7 in the first quarter when placekicker Ray early hit a 46-yard field goal.

But LSU came back to lead 20-16 at halftime.

The Tigers increased their to 27-16 after Terrence Magee had a 1-yard touchdown run to finish an eight-play, 84-yard drive on the first possession of the second half.

Mettenberger threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to fullback Melvin Jones to make the score 34-16 in the third quarter.
