LSU commitment Kelvin Joseph, a four-star safety from Scotlandville Magnet, has shut down his recruitment after a weekend visit to LSU, according to an SEC Country report.

Joseph committed to LSU on Jan. 6 during the U.S. Army All-American game in San Antonio, giving the Tigers a boost to their 2018 recruiting class. He had visits scheduled to Alabama and Auburn before National Signing Day on Feb. 2.

"Had" being the key word.

“My decision is final,” Joseph told SEC Country. “I don’t need to take any official visits anywhere else that I’m going to play against.”

As a senior, Joseph led the Hornets to the Division I select semifinals. The co-Defensive MVP of District 4-5A finished with 82 tackles, nine tackles for loss and three interceptions. Joseph also was a prolific return specialist who averaged 44 yards per kickoff return and 36 yards per punt return with four returns for TDs. One of his TD returns gave Scotlandville a final-seconds win over Brother Martin in the Division I quarterfinals.

Joseph committed to the Tigers after his sophomore season, but decommitted last fall. He played a key role in Scotlandville compiling a 21-3 record over the past two seasons.
