LSU Spring – Practice Observations, Day 7: Dylan Moses watches, Big Cat returns, Starting offense _lowres

Advocate staff photo by HILARY SCHEINUK -- LSU junior quarterback Brandon Harris (6) hands the ball off to sophomore fullback Bry'Kiethon Mouton (47) in a drill during practice, Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at LSU's Charles McClendon Practice Facility in Baton Rouge, La.

At least four highly touted 2017 recruits watched LSU’s spring practice Tuesday, including former U-High star and current 5-star rated linebacker Dylan Moses, now at IMG Academy.

Moses, a former Tigers commit on spring break, walked around the LSU practice field and, at one point, chatted with LSU strength and conditioning coach Tommy Moffitt during the Tigers’ seventh practice of the spring – and the first after taking off last week for spring break.

Also at LSU’s practice, according to Geaux247: Former LSU commit and 5-star athlete Jacoby Stevens, 4-star LB commit Patrick Queen of Livonia and 4-star safety Todd Harris, a Plaquemine product ranked as the fourth-best safety in the 2017 class; Catholic High teammates Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Ben Miles and Tre’ Square; and LSU signee Edwin Alexander.

But you want to know about practice, don’t you? Here are the nuggets followed by several videos of the Tigers’ collision drills, Big Cat.

  • Out still: LB Kendell Beckwith did not participate in practice like many expected he would. Beckwith twisted his knee during the third practice of the spring on March 10 – an injury LSU and Beckwith classified as minor. Beckwith said two weeks ago that he expected to return to practice after spring break.
  • Absentees: DE Isaiah Washington and LB Devin White were not at practice Tuesday. They are new absentees. Deondre Clark, who missed the last practice for unknown reasons, was practicing Tuesday. Reasons for White and Washington’s absences are not known. Les Miles is scheduled to meet with reporters at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
  • Bower at OLB: Through the first two-plus weeks of spring practice, reporters have noticed several defensive linemen working with the outside linebackers – a part of new DC Dave Aranda’s defensive installation. During a 25-minute viewing window of Tuesday’s practice, Tashawn Bower worked with the outside linebackers.
  • First-string O: Based on a team drill during Tuesday’s viewing window of practice, LSU’s first string offense looks like this
